Digging Deeper
As always we will give you a dig deeper into the app with our APK data mine. We look through the app files to find all the hidden changes that the Wizards Unite team didn’t tell you about in the changelog.
The first event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna
This is the first event added to Wizards Unite. Currently, it is coming soon but lots of data including various strings and assets were added relating to this. Read more about the event here.
Various XP Changes
XP has been changed. You may have noticed your current level adjust. This is due to the shuffling of how much XP is needed for each level. You can view all the changes to XP here.
Lifetime Stats
New lifetime stat achievements were added to the Ministry ID section of your profile. You can see these added to the bottom of the Ministry ID like so.
These are for the four new Lifetime Stats.
- Foundables Returned
- Distance Walked
- Inns and Greenhouses Visited
- Wizarding Challenges Won
Profession Tweaks
A huge number of changes to professions were made. We can see a brand new GUI with lots of interesting stats to dig through. You can see the new GUI below.
Selfie Avatar
We have more information about the “avatar” feature. We see references to taking a selfie and adding stickers, filters and frames.
“Use your device’s camera to take a Portrait for your Ministry ID. You can change your Portrait at any time. While you’re about it, you can also customize your Portrait using a variety of Lenses.”
“Choose stickers to add to your Ministry ID!”
Below you can see a selection of filters that were added in preparation for the release of the selfie filter.
There were also various frames added to go with the selfie avatar.
We also see a bunch of stickers added. You can use these to decorate your “Selfie Avatar’ by placing them over the picture you take.
While this feature has not been announced yet its a good insight into what is coming. We have no indication of when this feature is being released.
Download Assets
A new download assets button. This allows you to download all the assets to your phone before going out to play.
Lots of users are reporting these being up to 2gb in files to download. This will be great to sync on Wifi before you go out planning to not waste data. We’ve seen this bringing the total app size up to about 3gb when all current assets are downloaded.
New Oddities
Three new oddities foundables were added into the game.
Erkling – Erklings are elfish creatures who use their alluring cackle to attract their prey. Human children are susceptible to this sound and are often the unfortunate targets of Erking attacks.
Horned Serpent Egg – Once native to Western Europe, the Horned Serpent was hunted to extinction there. Today, breeding Horned Serpents may still be found in the wilds of North America and Asia.
Centaur Bow – The bow and arrow are a common weapon among forest-dwelling creatures such as Centaur and Pukwudgie. Some Centaur-constructed bows have been known to be made from the wood of an oak tree endemic to the Forbidden Forest of Hogwarts.
New Brilliants
Six new Brilliant foundables have been added in preparation for the Brilliant Event that was listed above.
Brilliant Young Acromantula – Acromantulas are giant, sentient spiders capable of human speech. Although they are native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, rumours persis of a colony living deep within the Forbidden Forest of Hogwarts.
Brilliant Buckbeak – After fleeing from an unjust execution with the help of Harry Potter Buckbeak went on the run with the fugitive Sirius Black. Following Black’s death, Buckbeak – rechristened ‘Witherwings’ to avoid further prosecution – rejoined the Hippogriff herd at Hogwarts.
Brilliant Salamander – Small, magical lizards that are born from fire, Salamanders may appear red or blue depending on the temperature of the flames. They are capable of living outside of their fires for four to six hours, but will die instantly if their fire is extinguished.
Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump – This stump appears to be that of a yew tree, a species indigenous to England and Scotland. its bark has been scorched by fire, perhaps by one of the many magical creatures that call the Forbidden Forest home.
Brilliant Snargaluff – Closely resembling a harmless tree stump, the Snargaluff plant is known to attack with grasping, thorny vines when provoked. Despite this effective method of self-defence Snargaluffs are cultivated for the pulsating green pods contained within their stumps. For safety reasons, it is recommended that any attempt to harvest a Snargaluff’s pods be done in pairs.
Brilliant Unicorn – Shy but powerfully magical creatures, Unicorns are swift-footed enough to outrun most predators. Their speed and agility are especially vital for those living in the notoriously dangerous Forbidden Forest.
Achievements
A new feature that is marked as coming soon. Nothing to report about this yet but its shown in app as coming soon.
Casting Changes
We have lots of user reports that casting has become easier with users reporting its a lot easier to get masterful casts. It’s hard to know the exact changes as these are server side but we have confirmed it’s a lot easier to get masterful casts. You can practice casting with our spell-casting tool by clicking here.
Visual changes to Fortresses
We have seen a few visual changes to Fortresses. You can see these changes below.
Click one of the above images for a bigger preview.
As you can probably tell this is a significant update and a good indicator that we are getting closer to public release and with current beta testers claiming they aren’t experiencing many if any bugs its a good sign that the game is getting close to release.
You can keep up to date with the changes by following Wizards Unite on Twitter and while you’re at it why don’t you join our Discord and interact with our thriving discord community.
A big thanks to Virodoran, Lunarul and Iced from our discord for help digging through this update.
